Women Empowerment
TSSS believes and aligns with the words of General Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary:
“Countries with greater gender equality experience superior economic growth. Companies with higher numbers of female leaders perform better. Peace agreements that involve women are more long-lasting. Parliaments with increased female representation pass more laws on vital social issues, such as health, education, anti-discrimination, and child support. The evidence is clear: gender equality benefits everyone.”
TSSS has been active in promoting women’s empowerment in rural areas and among vulnerable groups of women. Our social services have positively impacted the lives of thousands of rural women in five districts of Assam, helping to improve their livelihoods and living standards. TSSS has introduced the concept of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) among these women, providing a platform for them to become successful and empowered leaders in their local communities. By understanding the importance and purpose of SHGs and Federations, significant changes have been observed in their cultural, social, and financial aspects….
Livelihood
TSSS is dedicated to promoting sustainable development in rural areas and reducing poverty levels by providing better livelihood opportunities and ensuring food security for marginalized farmers. To achieve this goal, TSSS offers various training programs such as good agricultural practices, animal husbandry, and kitchen gardening to small tea farmers groups and marginal farmer groups….
Education
Empowering the children of tea garden workers to become responsible citizens of the country
TSSS is committed to promoting education for the dropouts’ children in the tea gardens. The organization firmly believes that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring a brighter future for the children of tea garden workers.
TSSS provides free education and vocational training to children who have dropped out of school due to financial constraints or other factors. Through various initiatives and programs, TSSS strives to ensure that every child in the tea gardens has access to quality education.
The organization has a team of dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to provide education and vocational training to these children. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children to learn and grow….
Disaster Management
Extend our emergency support to promote peace-building and solidarity
Assam, with its extensive network of rivers, is highly vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods and erosion, which have a negative impact on the overall development of the state. The Brahmaputra and Barak rivers, along with more than 50 tributaries, cause devastating floods during the monsoon season each year.
For the past 15 years, Tezpur Social Service Society has been providing essential humanitarian emergency relief services to flood victims. We work closely with our donor agencies to support those affected by floods and collaborate with government departments in Assam to stand in solidarity with the flood victims. We also extend our emergency support to promote peace-building and solidarity among those affected by any natural calamities or conflicts that bring destruction to communities beyond floods….
