Stories of Resilience Building in the Flood- Prone Regions of Assam

Assam faces floods almost every year, especially in the rural and riverbank areas. These floods bring a lot of suffering—damaged homes, lost crops, and unsafe drinking water. Despite these challenges, the people of Assam continue to rise with courage and strength. This report, “Stories of Resilience Building in the Flood-Prone Regions of Assam,” shares real-life stories of how communities are learning to live better and safer during floods.

The Tezpur Social Service Society (TSSS), under the Global Program India, has been working closely with the people in these flood-affected areas. With support from local leaders, women, youth, and volunteers, TSSS has helped build stronger homes, raised awareness about disaster preparedness, and trained people to respond quickly during emergencies. These stories show how communities, with the right support and knowledge, can become more confident and better prepared.

This booklet is not just about challenges—it is about hope, strength, and unity. Through these inspiring stories, we see how ordinary people are becoming heroes in their villages, helping each other and making their communities stronger every day. Together, they are building a future that is safer and more resilient.
